I Want This Gay Book Real Bad

The photos in this book were taken from June to September 2010, in the apartment of rue de l'arcade, in Paris.

In the cramped surroundings of this apartment where we live since February 2010, we have captured the elements that influence and form our relationship: our visual fixation on the body, the objects, the view of the outside.

The summer of 2010 happens in a new place where not everything belongs to us. This photographic series not only acquaints us with the space-related gestures learned here but it also escapes from the barriers of the apartment since the elements themselves induced by the place reveal the continuity of embodiment that link them between the "here" and the previous "somewhere else".

The subjects of the photographs are chosen in advance and we decided the space and the time, summer 2010, to take all of the pictures. Therefore any boundaries we faced were imposed upon ourselves intentionally.
The photographs resulting from this approach, similar to that of the interview, are more paintings than intimate documents.

Every pair of photographs is introduced by a sentence written both in French and in Italian, our respective languages.

Props To The Southern Poverty Law Center

Tony Perkins of the FRC (Family Research Council) reacted to his group's designation by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "hate group" with a statement on Wednesday claiming they are the victims of a smear campaign and demanding an apology.

His statement:

"Family Research Council has, for nearly 30 years, advanced faith, family, and freedom in public discourse. We do so with civility and compassion. We hold to the indisputable fact that the family - a Dad, a Mom, and children - is the best building block of a good society, which is why we oppose efforts to transform it based on personal sexual preference.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is a massively funded liberal organization that operates under a veneer of public justice when, in fact, they seem more interested in fundraising ploys than fighting wrongdoing.

This is a deliberately timed smear campaign by the SPLC. The Left is losing the debate over ideas and the direction of public policy so all that is left for them is character assassination. It's a sad day in America when we can not, with integrity, have a legitimate discussion over policy issues that are being considered by Congress, legislatures, and the courts without resorting to juvenile tactics of name calling.

The Left's smear campaigns of conservatives is also being driven by the clear evidence that the American public is losing patience with their radical policy agenda as seen in the recent election and in the fact that every state, currently more than thirty, that has had the opportunity to defend the natural definition of marriage has done so. Earlier this month, voters in Iowa sent a powerful message when they removed three Supreme Court justices who imposed same-sex marriage on the state. Would the SPLC also smear the good people of Iowa?

Family Research Council will continue to champion marriage and family as the foundation of our society and will not acquiesce to those seeking to silence the Judeo-Christian views held by millions of Americans. We call on the Southern Poverty Law Center to apologize for this slanderous attack and attempted character assassination."

Rihanna Disses On Bloggers To Ed Lover

"I still read the blogs sometimes, it depends on what it is I am trying to find out. I’m a lot more numb to it now only because I understand what it is. It’s a community for people who don’t have anything else to do and hate themselves, they hate their life, they hate their job, they hate their appearance, they are uncomfortable with who they are so what makes them feel good is talking smack about other people who they think they will never ever see in their life and they happen to be celebrities. It seems impossible to ever have the opportunity to say these things to their face, so they get to hide behind their computer."

Kind of a foolish thing to say, I think.

tonight on the dance floor at silk city, i was with two friends... you and your friend kept dancing near us. at one point it seemed like you were deliberately dancing back to back with me but, i wasn't sure if you were straight or not, so i didn't say anything to you. i thought you were so handsome, and a great dancer too... chances are you're never going to read this but just in case... i had a maroon v-neck tshirt on. your friend was tall and was wearing glasses. say hi if you see this... i'd love to meet up some time.

Holy Crap, I Will Definitely See This

Little Shits

"Michael Fairbanks, president of the St. Charles East Gay-Straight Alliance, sent out an e-mail to the media last night saying a group of St. Charles North boys came to school yesterday with shirts that read “STRAIGHT PRIDE” on the front and “If a man lay with a male as those who lay with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination and shall surely be put to DEATH,” a Bible verse from Leviticus 20:13."

One of the students had this to say: "The reason why we wore the shirts was just to express our views. People have said Ally Week is for everyone, but after Monday it was clear that it was more designed for homosexual students. We wore our shirts on Tuesday to express our views that we're straight, and we have the right to express that. But my dean told me on Tuesday, because of the people who wore the other shirts on Monday, our shirts were considered disruptive to the learning environment. To me, Ally Week itself has been disruptive. Instead of learning in class, we have to sit there and talk about all this other stuff that's happening because of Ally Week...There is clearly a double standard here, and we're really upset about this. They said the reason we can't wear ‘Straight Pride' shirts is because they are disruptive. And I can understand how maybe some people were intimidated by the shirts with the Bible verse. But I don't understand how some students are able to wear ‘Gay Pride' shirts while we can't wear shirts that just say ‘Straight Pride.' We wanted to wear them because we wanted to raise the fact that we were getting ripped on for supporting our straight sexuality, and also as a way to prove that our school has double standards.”

I couldn't pick any one little splice of the story to show you. Just go read the whole thing. This is the comment I left:

"Wow. Thanks, Aaron. What I really like about this story is that I've been wondering how high school kids who have lives that seem like dead ends, are supposed to react to the It Gets Better project. I kept thinking 'Most of these people making videos are successful white adults.' How does that give kids like the ones in this story any hope? Anyway, this story makes me want to volunteer and I just might.”
